Promo of a Government Program
For California Treasurer’s Office
Eight 90-second video stories, presented first in the vertical (portrait) format for social media, and then in the horizontal (landscape) format for YouTube and computer monitors. Also included is a compilation version introduced by California Treasurer Fiona Ma. Every one of these programs is unique: customized to fit its screen format and its presentation venue.
Miguel (with Instagram Reels overlay)
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
eImage created a series of eight videos for social media to promote CalABLE, a program which helps disabled people save money in California. Each video is precisely 90 seconds long to fit Facebook and Instagram Reels limits. Here are samples with Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok overlays, as well as four samples with no overlays, the way the programs were delivered.
We also created a 7-minute video program (see the bottom of this page) using all this material in a fresh new edit. This version is in landscape mode, suitable for YouTube or for in-person presentations.
Otto (with Facebook Reels overlay)
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
Getting unscripted, interview-based video programs into an exact 90-second time slot is no small feat, but we managed; the magic is in the editing. The music is also cut to precisely 90 seconds. eImage prides itself on precision.
Adrienne and Allison (with YouTube Shorts overlay)
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
Two of us traveled to Colorado to record this interview. In order to keep the style consistent we decided to do it ourselves rather than outsourcing it to a local crew. Sending just two people was enough to get the job done and keep the budget reasonable.
Tianni (with TikTok overlay)
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
This video was never meant for TikTok, this is just to show that for some social media, such as this one, we would want to move the subtitles up a little because they’re too close to the TikTok interface icons. It’s important to know which platform will be the final venue for each program if you want to take full advantage of the screen real estate you have available.
Charles and Henri
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
The next four programs are presented without overlays, the way we delivered the programs. The overlays were an essential tool we used throughout the production process to verify that each program looks OK despite the icons and text each social media platform adds over the top. Then we delivered a clean program for posting.

CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
Notice that all the social media programs have subtitles burned into the video because most platforms don’t have the capability to display closed captioning which the user can turn on or off. Insist on reviewing a video program with overlays for each social media platform you plan to use. If you don’t, you could end up with lower thirds, subtitles, or even faces obscured in the video frame by an icon or text. Such mistakes would be unacceptable for a professional video company, so make sure you check it.
Curtis
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
Daniel Gamburg of Enlightened Pictures worked with us in Southern California to shoot four of the programs: Miguel, Curtis, Otto and Tianni.
Raymond
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 90 Seconds
Each of these video programs took one day to shoot with a two or three person crew, and then a lot of hours to edit. We took the trouble to make many of the subject-supplied still photographs look three-dimensional which is best seen in the landscape versions below. And of course cutting to the precise 90-second time limit posed challenges that took a while to surmount, but we got each of the programs into a frame-accurate 90-seconds.
CalABLE Ambassadors Compilation
CalABLE/California Treasurer’s Office, 7:21 minutes
This is the only program with closed captioning which can be turned off because unlike most social media platforms, YouTube allows the use of closed captioning.
Notice how this compilation is really a fresh new program, based on the same material as the videos above, but also using other footage. Our work is always custom hand-crafted so that it’s perfect for each intended use.
